What is Yoga?

"Yoga attempts to create a state in which we are always present- really present- in every action, in every moment."  T.K.V. Desikachar, The Heart of Yoga

The word yoga means "union". The greatest objective of yoga is to learn how to live a unified existence. On a personal level, this means that we must first integrate our body, mind and spirit so they are all working together to form a unified whole.  Our yoga practice also teaches us how interconnected we all are with one another (whether we like it or not!) and how to live in harmony with others.  Yoga is more than a physical practice of down dogs and lotuses, although this plays a big part. Our physical yoga practice supports our efforts to have a strong, healthy body, which prepares us to meet all the challenges and joys this life brings us.

As we practice our yoga,
we learn how to live the best lives we can.
Learning how to live an authentic life, in harmony with the earth and our neighbors, is truly an art.
May your yoga practice support you on your journey.

Peace, Love & Light,
Liz
